LGBTQIA+

Being a queer person comes with a unique set of personal and social experiences that can influence your mental wellbeing. It is possible to live a rich and fulfilling life, but social pressures and systemic prejudice can feel overwhelming.

It can be especially difficult for teens, who are navigating their identity development on a more intense level.

Seeing a knowledgeable and compassionate provider can make a huge difference. I have lived experience within the LGBTQIA+ community. In the therapy room with me, you can process any difficulties in a safe space, and receive affirming care.

I go beyond a hyper-clinical view, and seek to honor your experiences and recognizing the validity of your sexual and gender identity.

Some common benefits an LGBTQIA+ person can gain from therapy:

Someone Who Just Gets It

I understand that being queer can come with a variety of stressors—including the stress of unsupportive loved ones, discrimination, internalized shame, the transitioning process, and fear of violence. Not to mention the cultural nuances of the LGBTQIA+ community that cishet people may just not get. I’ve walked alongside many of my queer and trans brothers and sisters. I’d be happy to walk alongside you, too.

Building Resilience

In a world that wants to silence or break you, it is an act of rebellion to joyfully and loudly live. In therapy, we can build your resilience and relieve some of the stress and discrimination you might face. Together, we can help you build a proud, strong sense of self.

Empowered Growth

Learn to take control of your life and honor your personal values. Authenticity is an integral part of wellness. We can nurture your growth while giving you practical tools to protect and care for yourself. Building your community and support network can help strengthen you, too.
