Grief
Grief can feel like you’re drowning. Your world has been irreparably broken. You have lost someone or something that you can never get back. And the world keeps going. Time keeps marching cruelly onward. But for you, everything has stopped.
Your spirituality may be shaken. You might be feeling emotions you didn’t expect. Nothing feels right about this.
Grief therapy isn’t about making you feel okay about your loss—your loss will never feel okay. It is normal to feel permanently changed after a loss. And it’s normal to feel angry, sorrowful, empty, grateful, and lost all in the same day. That is the reality of a grieving person.
My job as your therapist is to companion you as you navigate your life after a tremendous loss.
You can find me at Vervewell, where together we will process all the complex emotions that come with grief.
Some common benefits those dealing with grief can gain from therapy:
A Safe Space
Many grieving people feel a pressure to “move on”, or feel like there is a timeline that their loved ones will no longer tolerate hearing any more about their grief. There is no timeline in therapy. It is a space where you aren’t expected to come to peace with it. And if you do come to peace with it, it will be on your timeline.
Adjusting to a New World
In therapy, we can discover what life looks like for you now. As you face a major life transition, we’ll help you rebuild daily routines, honor memories, and find a renewed sense of meaning.
Reduced Loneliness
You don’t have to go this alone. As your therapist, I am here to be your warm companion who walks alongside you. I am not trying to steer you, “fix” you, or control your process. My job is to be there with you, wherever you need to go. No matter how deep or how dark. I’ve got you.
